Connor began his journey at FLIS before turning two. Coming from an English-only speaking home, I had hoped he would embrace other languages. During his nine years, Connor far exceeded my hopes and dreams. In 4th grade, he received the Platinum Award in The Grand Concours National French Competition—the first 4th grader to ever receive the award at FLIS. Not only did he graduate from FLIS speaking four languages, but he also gained a family and friends he will have for life. The community of teachers offers a loving environment where children thrive. I am thankful to live near such an amazing school that provided education to Connor like no other.

Enriching education. Excelling academically. Engaging global culture.
About Us
The Foreign Language Immersion School (FLIS) is a private education facility for children from preschool to 5th grade. Once students graduate from our program, they will be able to read, write, and communicate in four languages. Our academically-focused program is leaps ahead of traditional education, operating one full grade level above public school curriculum and regularly surpassing Florida learning standards in language arts, reading, math, science, and social studies.
Embrace your child’s spark for knowledge with a high-quality education that will prepare them for a globalized future. Our innovative language immersion program gives students the skills they need to succeed while developing fluency in English, Spanish, French, and Chinese.
Our Programs
We offer an advanced academic program for children from six weeks old to 5th grade. Our full math, science, social studies, art, music, and physical education curriculum starts with age-appropriate learning in our one-year-old classrooms. Instruction in these subjects is divided between English, Spanish, Chinese, and French and varies based on age and grade level.
Open the Language Learning Window
Many scientific studies have shown that it’s nearly impossible for children to achieve second-language proficiency if they haven’t been exposed to the language before they turn ten. However, many schools in the US don’t offer language learning courses until middle or high school. We believe that the best opportunity for children to become fluent in another language is between infancy and elementary grades. Our goal is to take advantage of this critical language learning window and give your student the best opportunity to learn multiple languages while excelling academically in their native language.
Is Immersion the Best Way to Learn a Language?
Yes! Immersion teaching models closely mimic how children learn their first language. Language immersion programs provide complete instruction in the second language, so students learn how to interact and engage with the new language just as they did when they first learned to speak. Our classrooms give students as many opportunities as possible to use languages in a rich environment of print and practical materials.
The benefits of immersion language learning have been widely studied over the past several decades and include:
- Greater proficiency with second language learning than traditional methods.
- Increased attention, memory, and problem-solving skills.
- An elevated level of understanding of a native language.
- Lower drop-out rates than traditional schooling.
- Higher scores on standardized tests.
- Empathy and cultural tolerance.
Immersion allows students to foster a love of learning that makes them want to keep going!
The Best Method. The Best Results.
Here’s what parents say about Foreign Language Immersion School:
Ever since we toured the school when I was pregnant, we knew it would be a special place. We’re so glad we were right and that Kenzie has grown up at FLIS. Thank you for taking amazing care of our girl.
Our first year at FLIS has been fantastic. We are so grateful to have found a school with such an enriching education, art, sports activities, a caring and dedicated staff, and a kind and loving atmosphere…Thank you for all you do!
We were lucky to have had the opportunity to be a part of FLIS since the very beginning and watch it develop into the amazing school it is today. Our daughter, Zunaira, was part of the first graduating class of the school. She attended for eight years since she could speak and we saw her excel in her classes and in the languages she was learning from the age of two years old. Every year since 3rd grade, she participated in the National French Competition, and she won medals from bronze to gold. In 5th grade, she achieved a Platinum medal, the highest award in Le Grand Concours among the many participating students across the United States. That is a true testament to what she was able to achieve at FLIS in a few years of learning a new language. Both our children have received one of the best foundations in elementary education which will remain with them throughout their future. FLIS will always be a part of our core memories.
We cannot be more thankful to have you in Collier’s life every day, watching his learning grow and helping us with all the challenges along the way. His progress this year is a true testament to you, your staff, and your school. We can’t wait to see Collier’s growth next year and you by his side again!
