SUMMER DAY CAMPS 2019

Summer Camp Hours: 8:30am-4:00pm Courtesy Early Drop Off– 7:00-8:30am Aftercare: 4:00-6:00pm

Camp Rate– – $235.00 per week Weekly Materials Fee– $10.00 (per week)

Aftercare Rate: $25.00 per week

Camp Includes: Complimentary Morning Care (7:00am-8:30am), Camp hours of 8:30-4:00, Lunch and Afternoon Snack Daily.

Campers will participate in a fun and education experience where kids get the opportunity to learn about science through interactive hands-on science activities all while learning and exploring the Spanish language. This camp will be a sensory explosion of creative learning. Activities will allow campers to become junior scientist for the summer and embark on a series of adventures.

Week 1: Crazy Chemistry

Shake up a flask of fun in the lab and become a junior chemist! Our little mad scientists will be encouraged to do what real chemists do: make predictions, design, and modify experiments, make observations, and draw reasonable conclusions as they conduct easy experimental procedures that enlighten young minds.

Learn to recognize chemical reactions and mix up a few reactive ingredients for some sensational results. Campers have a blast as they make some crazy concoctions which of course will include SLIME making!

Week 3: Imaginative Inventions

Let your kid’s imagination run wild! Campers will complete collaborative and project-based activities that will encourage them to invent new things to boost their creativity, visualization skills, and their ability to think critically. With a little bit of ingenuity, you’ll construct catapults and forts, build amazing planes that fly through the air, and assemble a working light saber to take home. While Thomas Edison said invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration, this camp is 100% fun!

Week 5: Science of Nature

We encourage experimenting, tinkering, building, observing, exploring, problem solving, and creating as students make animal habitats, find creative ways for conservation, and find solutions to weather challenges. STEM challenges will help kids fall in love with the world around them as they begin to see things through a scientific eye.

Week 7: SLIMEology

Kids LOVE the AMAZING tactile sensory experience slime provides! Gitter, butter, rainbow, flubber, floam, and fluffy slime all provide that fun squishy and stretchy texture that just begs to be played with. While busy mixing and measuring campers will learn about the unique chemical composition that makes up slime! Who knew leaning about mixtures, molecules, polymers, viscosity, and chemical reactions could be so much fun?

Week 9: Science of Art (STEAM)

STEAM takes STEM to the next level: it allows students to connect their learning in these critical areas together with arts practices, elements, design principles, and standards to provide the whole pallet of learning at their disposal. STEAM removes limitations and replaces them with wonder, inquiry, and innovation.

AWE-STEM candy challenges using scientific properties to teach kids how to solve problems systematically by opening your own candy factory lab with easy to do candy science activities that will make you feel like Willy Wonka himself. Skittles, M&M’s, Pop Rocks, gum drops, and chocolate are perfect for exploring science concepts. Taste, touch, see, smell, and hear our candy science activities. We will use candy to make your kids smarter and your kids will love you for it (because it’s CANDY!

Week 4: Innovative Engineers

If your child has an innate interest in building things, we want to foster architectural creativity. Teaching children to see like designers and think like engineers by constructing bridges, towers, airplanes, boats, and more out of all kinds of interesting exciting materials.

Week 6: Super Spies

Everyone loves a mystery and telling your kids they are members of a C.S.I. organization will surely capture their attention. In a collaborative effort, we will analyze clues and use tools to “crack the code” and solve the camp mystery; The case of the kidnapped Cookies: A Crime Scenario. We will use invisible ink, fingerprints, and microscopes to help figure who did it and to learn the science behind being a detective.

Week 8: Space Explorer

We will take you to the moons of Jupiter and explore the possibility of life on these distant worlds. Kids work closely together in a hands-on way learning problem solving skills and critical thinking as they work through the principals of STEM to construct Stars, Constellations, rockets, and other out of this world creations.

CANCELLATION POLICY: What if my child is unable to attend a week of camp that we have already paid for?

If you know your child will not be attending camp on or before 30 calendar days before the child’s first camp, the parent can send a written notification to cancel camp enrollment and receive a refund less ten percent (10%) of the tuition fee (no refunds of registration fee). Within 30 days before the start of camp, there will be the potential of the above refund if we are able to fill your child’s spot (no refund if the spot is not filled). Please speak with the office staff about extenuating circumstances and the possibility of moving your child to another, available, week of camp.
